Thousands of residents lost power in the Doylestown area on Tuesday afternoon, leading to some confusion at key area intersections.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — Thousands of residents and some key traffic signals lost power in the Doylestown area on Tuesday afternoon, leading to some traffic confusion at various points.
Outages were as widespread as nearly 10,000 Doylestown-area PECO customers in the mid-afternoon hours Tuesday, according to outage maps.
Motorists at some important intersections, including Swamp and Easton roads, encountered broken traffic signals, leading to confusion.

An exact cause for the outages is not clear. The Intelligencer reports that that the outages were related to an "equipment failure."
Restoration is expected for most of the outages by later in the afternoon or evening.
