The community is invited to tour the house and meet sustainability experts during "Sustainable Saturdays" through Oct. 28.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — A 270-square foot, solar-powered tiny house is being built at Delaware Valley University as a demonstration of sustainable living practices. Construction is underway next to The Market at DelVal on Lower State Road through October.

The project is being done by Mesa Lifestyle, an eco-lifestyle brand, with the support of community sponsors, according to information from DelVal.

There are several events planned in connection with the tiny house, including Sustainable Saturdays. Every Saturday through Oct. 28 from noon to 4 p.m., the community is invited to check out the build in progress; tour the house when complete, and meet sustainability experts and project sponsors.

Here is more information about the project, according to DelVal.

The tiny house is designed to inspire a more Earth-conscious community by demonstrating the process of building an off-grid house using renewable energy, conserving resources, reducing waste and choosing locally-sourced, sustainable materials. The house will catch and reuse rainwater. Its interior will include: a kitchen, living area, bathroom, walk-in closet and a storage staircase leading to a lofted bedroom. When complete, the house will travel to farms, schools and businesses to promote sustainable living.
