​Warrington Welcomes 2 New Police Officers To The Force

The offers were hired through a $5,000 incentive grant from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency.

WARRINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — The Warrington Township Police Department on Tuesday night swore in two new officers, Daniel Mulhern Jr. and Matthew Davison.

District Justice Stacy Wertman was on hand to administer the oaths of office during the Board of Supervisors meeting.

Officer Mulhern and Officer Davison are the recipients of a $5,000 Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency recruiting incentive grant. Due to a nationwide shortage of police officer applicants, the commission offers a hiring bonus/recruiting incentive grant.

Under Chief Friel's direction, Sergeant Hawthorn applied for the two successful grants, co-signed by Chairman Diorka.

Officer Daniel (DJ) Mulhern Jr. was born and raised in Warminster. After graduating from William Tennant High School, he obtained a bachelor’s in biology from Bryn Athyn College.

Officer Mulhern, his wife and son, Judge Wertman and members of the board of supervisors.

Officer Mulhern has had a passion for ice hockey since he was young, which eventually took him overseas where he played semi-professionally in Stockholm, Sweden.

After returning to America, he met his wife, and they have a son with a daughter on the way.

In 2023, Officer Mulhern Jr. graduated from the Temple University Ambler Police Academy. He was hired by the Bristol Township Police Department while attending the academy. After a year and a half with Bristol Township, he is looking forward to taking his career back home.

Officer Matthew Davison was born and raised in Warrington Township. After graduating from Central Bucks High School South, he enlisted in the U.S. Army as a corrections officer. During his service, he achieved the rank of sergeant and was deployed to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

After his service in the army, he was hired by the Norristown Police Department, attended Montgomery County Community College Municipal Police Academy and graduated in 2023.

After serving a year with the Norristown Police Department, he said he is honored to be taking his career back home and looks forward to protecting and serving the community of Warrington.
