1. $3M Secured for Presque Isle Beach Nourishment Project (erienewsnow.com) — Presque Isle State Park and Erie Harbor are getting a $3 million boost for beach nourishment and sand stockpiling, with work already underway and continuing through November. Crews will reinforce several popular beaches and vulnerable shoreline areas to protect the harbor's shipping channel, local jobs, and recreation ahead of harsh winter conditions and future projects planned into 2027.
   

2. Bird of the Month: Northern Flicker (eriereader.com) — Northern Flickers are a colorful woodpecker you can spot year-round in Erie, especially around Presque Isle and local neighborhoods. Anthony Sorci received Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful's Community Pride Award after spending thousands of volunteer hours picking up everything from cans to appliances, and he's urging neighbors to join PennDOT's Adopt-A-Highway program to keep local roads cleaner.
   

4. 'All in all, we still did well' Erie businesses, officials reflect on summer (yourerie.com) — Erie's seasonal businesses and attractions are wrapping up a strong summer, with local shops, waterfront restaurants, and Presque Isle State Park all reporting solid visitor turnout despite early weather and construction challenges. Business owners credit Erie residents and tourists for showing up in big numbers, while lifeguard managers are already planning recruitment for the 2027 season to keep beaches fully staffed.
