Burglary, Bitcoin Scam, Forgery, More: Haverford Crime Blotter
Haverford Police reported two instances of checks being altered then cashed over the past week. See details on this and more incidents here.
HAVERFORD TOWNSHIP, PA — Police in Haverford Township issued their weekly crime blotter Wednesday.
Incidents in the blotter occurred between Feb. 8 and Feb. 14.
The blotter also includes arrests made and citations issued.

- Burglary at the 2300 block of Haverford Road on Feb. 8 at 7:40 a.m. – Forced entry was gained through the front door. $140 was stolen from the cash register.
- Retail Theft at Acme, 1300 block of West Chester Pike, on Feb. 8 at 2:19 p.m. – An unknown male stole $842.43 worth of groceries.
- Retail Theft at Acme, 1300 block of West Chester Pike, on Feb. 9 at 5:10 p.m. – An unknown male and female stole $108 worth of diapers and fled the store.
- Theft at the unit block of E. Wilmot Avenue on Feb. 9 at 6:31 p.m. – Victim reported that his American flag was stolen.
- Retail Theft at Kohl’s, 200 block of West Chester Pike, on Feb. 10 at 9 a.m.– Two unknown males stole $2,489.94 worth of merchandise.
- Theft at Wawa, 1000 block of Darby Road, on Feb. 10 at 1:25 p.m. – A backpack containing a Chromebook, school supplies and keys was stolen.
- Fraud at the unit block of Brookline Boulevard on Feb. 10 at 12:48 p.m. – A check was altered after it was mailed. The bank contacted the victim when someone attempted to cash it.
- Fraud at the 200 block of E. Marthart Avenue on Feb. 10 at 3:03 p.m. – Victim received an alert that her IP address was compromised. They provided a phone number to contact them. The caller stated that $14,000 was added to her bank account and advised her to withdraw the money and send it through a Bitcoin machine. Once the transfer was complete, the victim received another call stating that it was a scam.
- Burglary at the 500 block of Kathmere Road on Feb. 11 at 9:43 a.m. – Entry was gained through an unlocked rear door. A purse containing credit cards was stolen. Unauthorized purchases were made with one of the credit cards.
- Theft at the 200 block of Brookline Boulevard on Feb. 11 at 9:05 a.m. – Unlocked vehicle was entered – Wallet was stolen.
- Theft at the 500 block of Kathmere Road on Feb. 11 at 12:13 p.m. – Vehicle was entered – a charging cable and $20 was stolen.
- Attempted Theft at the 500 block of Kathmere Road on Feb. 11 at 9:43 a.m. – Unlocked vehicle was entered – nothing was reported missing.
- Theft at the 1200 block of Leedom Road on Feb. 12 at 2:02 a.m. – Victim reported that someone smeared make up and wrote obscenities on their front door.
- Attempted Theft at the 300 block of Highland Lane on Feb. 12 at 10:25 p.m. – Unlocked vehicle was entered – nothing was reported missing.
- Theft at Bryn Mawr Extended Care, 900 block of Railroad Avenue, on Feb. 13 at 6:11 p.m. – Cell phone was stolen.
- Theft at Bryn Mawr Extended Care, 900 block of Railroad Avenue, on Feb. 13 at 6:50 p.m. – A resident reported $300 missing from his room.
- Theft at the 700 block of Millbrook Lane on Feb. 14 at 5:31 a.m. – Two unlocked vehicles were entered – various tools and approximately $1,000 worth of medical equipment was stolen.
- Theft at the 200 block of Ellis Road on Feb. 14 at 10:36 a.m. – Vehicle was entered – loose change was stolen.
- Forgery at the 200 block of Morlyn Avenue on Feb. 14 at 1:15 p.m. – A check was altered and cashed after it was mailed.
ARRESTS
- 40-year-old male, Homeless. Charges: Retail theft, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Location: Lowe’s, 100 block of W. Township Line Road. Date: Feb. 11 at 4:16 p.m.
- 44-year-old male, Homeless. Charges: Possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Location: East Township Line Road and Grove Place. Date: Feb. 12 at 12:40 a.m.
- 41-year-old male, unit block of Wilson Boulevard, Norristown. Charges: Possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Location: East Township Line Road and Grove Place. Date: Feb. 12 at 1:34 a.m.
- 33-year-old male, 1400 block of Sellers Street, Philadelphia. Charges: Retail theft and possession of drug paraphernalia. Location: 7-Eleven, 2600 block of Haverford Road. Date: Feb. 13 at 1:29 p.m.
