Delco Investigating Potential Computer System Hack

Officials said the Bureau of Elections was not affected in what they said was a disruption to parts of the county's computer network.

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — Authorities in Delaware County have launched an investigation into a potential hack of the county's computer network.

According to the county, part of the county's computer network experienced a "disruption."

It's unclear when the disruption was discovered, but authorities immediately launched an investigation that included taking certain systems offline and working with computer forensic specialists to determine the nature and scope of the event.

Officials said the Bureau of Elections and the Emergency Services Department were not affected by the disruption.

According to the county, the Bureau of Elections and Emergency Services are separate computer networks from the County of Delaware and there is no evidence they were impacted by the disruption.

"We are working diligently to restore the functionality of our systems," officials said in a statement.

Delaware County employees have been notified and provided with information and instructions regarding the disruption.
