Haverford Crime Blotter: Stolen Vehicles, Thefts From YMCA, More

HAVERFORD TOWNSHIP, PA — The latest Haverford Township Police blotter is out, and we have the details.

The blotter covers incidents that occurred between Aug. 14 and Aug. 20.

It also features arrests made and citations issued.

INCIDENTS:

• Theft at Tip O’Leary’s, 300 block of West Chester Pike, on Aug. 14 at 3:02 p.m. – an unknown person stole a barrel of grease, breaking the screen in the dumpster.
• Motor Vehicle Theft from U-Haul, unit block of E. Township Line Road, on Aug. 14 at 2:43 p.m.
• Motor Vehicle Theft from U-Haul, unit block of E. Township Line Road, on Aug. 14 at 2:43 p.m.
• Fraud in the unit block of Dartmouth Road on Aug. 14 at 10:45 a.m. – victim sent a large amount of US Currency after receiving a scam phone call. Investigation is ongoing.
• Fraud in the 900 block of Railroad Road on Aug. 14 at 1:44 p.m. – victim received a spam email from Apple, purchased gift cards for a large amount of money.
• Fraud in the 2300 block of Haverford Road on Aug. 14 at 2:16 p.m. – victim received a spam phone call from PECO about an overdue bill. Victim sent a gift card as the form of payment.
• Identity Theft in the 100 block of S. Eagle Road on Aug. 14 at 7:21 p.m. – an unknown actor used the victim’s credit card to make unauthorized purchases.
• Identify Theft in the 200 block of Valley Ridge Road on Aug. 14 at 11:10 a.m. – an unknown actor had the all of the victim’s mail forwarded to a different address.
• Vandalism in the 1600 block of Lawrence Road on Aug. 14 at 6:28 p.m. – an unknown person poured an unknown substance onto the victim’s car.
• Theft in the 1100 block of West Chester Pike on Aug. 15 at 1:52 p.m. – victim misplaced her TD Bank debit card, her card was used in the area.
• Fraud in the 300 block of Ardmore Avenue on Aug. 15 at 5:30 p.m. - victim received a scam phone call involving her grandson. The victim sent gift cards in a large amount of money to get her grandson out of jail.
• Identity Theft in the1600 block of Melrose Avenue on Aug. 15 at 10:36 a.m. – an unknown actor made an authorized purchase and changed the mailing address of his bank account.
• Theft at the Reserve, 9000 block of Parkview Road, on Aug. 16 at 12:11 p.m. – the windows on the victim’s vehicle were smashed out, her purse with numerous credit cards, US Currency and Apple Ear Buds was stolen.
• Theft at Bryn Mawr Extended Care, 900 block of Railroad Avenue) on Aug. 16 at 4:12 p.m. – victim reports that a large amount of cash was taken from his room.
• Theft in the 700 block of Hathaway Lane on Aug. 16 at 9:44 a.m. – victim left her glasses, water bottle and cellphone on the grass while walking her children. She went back to retrieve them and the items were gone.
• Retail Theft at Rite Aid, 1300 block of West Chester Pike on Aug. 16 at 8 p.m. hours – a 52-year-old male, unit block of Holbrook Road, Havertown was cited.
• Theft from Vehicle in the 700 block of Haverford Road on Aug. 16 at 3:03 p.m. – while the victim was loading his car, he went back to his house to retrieve more items; during that time his medication was stolen from his vehicle.
• Identity Theft in the 100 block of E. Marthart Avenue on Aug. 16 at 10:31 a.m. – victim has not been receiving his social security checks. Upon further investigation an unknown actor changed his mailing address.
• Identity Theft in the 200 block of Ivy Rock Lane on Aug. 16 at 2:40 p.m. – an unknown actor changed the victim’s address for his social security checks.
• Public Drunkenness at Barnaby’s, 1900 block of West Chester Pike) on Aug. 16 at 12:38 a.m. – a 27-year-old male, unit block of Waverly Road, Morton was cited.
• Criminal Mischief in the 100 block of E. Golfview Road on Aug. 18 at 10:35 a.m. – victim’s tire was slashed.
• Theft in the 200 block of Lee Circle on Aug. 19 at 9:57 a.m. – jewelry is missing from the victim’s jewelry box. Investigation is ongoing.
• Theft from the YMCA, 800 block of Eagle Road, on Aug. 19 at 4:39 p.m. – Victim’s backpack was stolen out of an unsecure locker.
• Theft from the YMCA, 800 block of Eagle Road, on Aug. 19 at 7:09 p.m. – Victim’s cellphone was taken off a bench while he was playing basketball.
• Theft from ACME, 1300 block of West Chester Pike, on Aug. 19 at 7:37 p.m. – Victim’s wallet and cell phone were taken out of his shopping cart. Investigation is ongoing.
• Theft from the YMCA, 800 block of West Chester Pike, on Aug. 19 at 10:07 p.m. – Victim’s cellphone was taken off a bench while he was playing basketball.
• Vandalism in the 900 block of Darby Road on Aug. 19 at 10:52 a.m. – A rock from the roadway kicked up and shattered the victim’s rear window.
• Fraud in the 200 block of Charles Drive on Aug. 20 at 2:24 p.m. – Victim received a scam email stating that her nephew was in trouble, she sent a gift card as instructed

ARRESTS:

• 17-year-old female was petitioned to juvenile court. Charges: Retail Theft. Location: Kohl’s, 200 block of West Chester Pike. Date: Aug. 14 at 2:30 p.m.
• 37-year-old male, 5400 block of Montague Street, Philadelphia. Charges: Theft from Motor Vehicle, Loitering and Prowling, Weapons. Location: unit block of E. Langhorne Avenue. Date: Aug. 15 at 4:52 a.m.
• 23-year-old male, 6200 block of Ellsworth Street, Philadelphia. Charges: Possession of Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia. Location: Haverford Road & Bus Route. Date: Aug. 15 at 4:23 p.m.
• 30-year-old male, unit block of Holbrook Road, Havertown. Charges: Warrant. Location: Holbrook and Bennington Roads. Date: Aug. 17 at 10:31 p.m.
• 21-year-old male, 1900 block of West Chester Pike, Havertown. Charges: DUI, Possession of Controlled Substance, Drug Paraphernalia. Location: West Chester Pike and Eagle Road. Date: Aug. 18 at 7:22 a.m.
• 33-year-old male, 6100 block of Grays Avenue, Philadelphia Charges: DUI, Possession of Marijuana, Drug Paraphernalia, Driving While Suspended, Careless Driving. Location: 2500 block of Haverford Road. Date: Aug. 19 at 11:55 p.m.
• 21-year-old male, 800 block of N. 48th Street, Philadelphia. Charges: Forgery, access device fraud, theft by deception and theft by unlawful Taking. Location: Giant, 100 block of W. Township Line Road. Date: Aug. 15 at 5:50 p.m., incident occurred on June 16.
