Haverford Fire Kills Beloved School For Blind Nurse Friday
A home on the 900 block of Larchmont Avenue caught fire early Friday evening and sadly one person died as a result.

HAVERFORD TOWNSHIP, PA – A beloved school for the blind nurse died, but two others were saved by police, after a house fire broke out Friday evening in Haverford Township.
The fire broke out at about 5:53 p.m. at a home on the 900 block of Larchmont Avenue, according to Philly.com.
As a result, Roseann McLaughlin – a longtime nurse at the Overbrook School for the Blind – died in the fire.

The Delaware County Daily News reports the fire broke out when an easy lift assist chair caught fire.
The outlet reports McLaughlin – who used a wheelchair to help her get around – was with her daughter Casey McLaughlin and grandchild Michael at the home when the fire broke out. McLaughlin was unable to escape the home while the two others made it out safely with the help of Haverford and Upper Darby Police.

A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to help Casey and Michael.
"Roseann was the most selfless person, putting others needs always before her own," the website reads. "No donation is too small to help Casey and Michael during this difficult time."

"During this time, it is important that we support one another in our grief and honor the remarkable memory and impact that Roseann leaves behind."
