Haverford Police Blotter: 6 Fraud, 3 Identity Theft Cases
Among the six fraud instances were a grandparent scam, paid work not being done, and unauthorized bank account access, police said.

HAVERFORD TOWNSHIP, PA — The latest Haverford Township Police crime blotter is out.
The blotter covers incidents that occurred between Jan. 30 and Feb. 4.
Notably, police handled six separate fraud cases and three identity theft cases.

INCIDENTS:
- Fraud at the Quadrangle, 3300 block of Darby Road, on Jan. 30 at 10:52 a.m. – Victim reported that an unknown male claimed to be his grandson and scammed him out of $8,200.
- Fraud at the 300 block of Greenbriar Lane on Jan. 30 at 10:37 a.m. – Victim paid a handyman a deposit – work was not completed.
- Fraud at the 400 block of Earlington Road on Jan. 30 at 7:16 p.m. – The victim received a call claiming to be from Apple. They provided the caller remote access to their computer and credit card information before realizing it was a scam.
- Identity Theft at the 700 block of Oak Way on Feb. 1 at 12:26 a.m. – Victim received an email from an unknown email address claiming to be from Apple Support. She provided them remote access, credit card information and sent $100 Apple gift card before realizing it was a scam.
- Identity Theft at the 1500 block of Dorchester Road on Feb. 1 at 9:20 a.m. – An unknown person used the victim’s identity to transfer her driver’s license to Florida.
- Identity Theft at the 100 block of Oxford Hill Lane on Feb. 1 at 10:20 a.m. – Victim received a call from an unknown person claiming to be from Apple INC. The unknown male walked her through steps on her computer which enabled him to remotely access her computer. He gained access to her bank account and credit cards.
- Burglary at the 500 block of Fairmont Road on Feb. 2 at 11:38 p.m. – Forced entry was gained through the kitchen door. Jewelry, watches, camera and over $5,000 was stolen.
- Theft at the 300 block of Olympic Avenue on Feb. 2 at 2:21 p.m. – Victim reported that a person known to him stole an acoustic guitar, chainsaw and leaf blower from his residence.
- Theft at the unit block of Brennan Drive on Feb. 2 at 2:42 p.m. – A lantern was stolen from the front porch.
- Fraud at Children’s Ark, unit block of W. Ardmore Avenue, on Feb. 2 at 1:47 p.m. – The director reported that an employee has been stealing money by way of credit card for an unknown amount of time.
- Theft of Services at the 2400 block of Poplar Road on Feb. 2 at 1:08 p.m. – Victim reported that he paid approximately $11,000 to have his BMW restored. Only 50 percent of the work was completed.
- Theft at Waterford Apartments, 1900 block of Lawrence Road, on Feb. 3 at 11:10 a.m. – Victim reported that she discovered her keys and wallet were missing. She later located her keys and wallet in the lost and found drop box at her apartment complex. Everything was accounted for except $320 cash.
- Fraud at the 200 block of Colfax Road on Feb. 3 at 11:03 a.m. – Victim reported an unauthorized withdraw of $820 from her checking account.
- Vandalism at the 1400 block of Fairview Avenue on Feb. 3 at 12:13 p.m. – Mailbox was knocked off of the post.
- Vandalism at the 1400 block of Fairview Avenue on Feb. 3 at 11:07 a.m. – Vehicle tires were slashed and windshield shattered.
- Fraud at the 1300 block of Virginia Avenue on Feb. 4 at 7:51 a.m. – Victim reported numerous unauthorized purchase made with her debit card.
ARRESTS:
- White male, 25, 200 block of Frederick Road, Havertown. Charges: DUI and careless driving. Location: 600 block of Loraine Street. Date: Jan. 31 at 3:31 a.m.
- White male, 30, unit block of Holbrook Road, Havertown. Charges: DUI. Location: unit block of Grove Place. Date: Feb. 1 at 2:14 p.m.
