Haverford Police Blotter: Fraud, Identity Theft, Robbery, More

Police reported five fraud cases in just four days' time in Haverford. See details on those cases and more in the full blotter here.

HAVERFORD TOWNSHIP, PA – The latest Haverford Township Police blotter is out and it covers police-handled incidents that occurred between Sept. 5 and Sept. 11.

Notably, police reported five fraud cases in which checks were cashed, accounts opened, credit cards were used, and more.

INCIDENTS:

  • Theft at Acme (1300 block of West Chester Pike) on Sept. 5 at 10:10 a.m. – A wallet containing a driver’s license, credit cards, gift cards and $100 was stolen from the restroom.
  • Theft at Haverford College (300 block of Lancaster Avenue) on Sept. 5 at 1:51 p.m. – Victim reported that his laptop was stolen from the Kins Center while it was left unattended.
  • Fraud at the 200 block of Fawn Lane on Sept. 5 at noon – An unknown person attempted to make an unauthorized purchase with the victim’s credit card.
  • Fraud at the 200 block of James Drive on Sept. 6 at 1:06 p.m. – Victim reported that an unknown person changed the direct deposit account for his pension payment.
  • Identity Theft at the 600 block of Naylors Run Road on Sept. 6 at 12:09 p.m. – Victim reported that someone used his identity to open a Verizon account.
  • Fraud at the 200 block of E. Manoa Road on Sept. 7 at 9:12 a.m. – Victim reported numerous unauthorized purchases made with his debit card.
  • Fraud at the 200 block of Greenbriar Lane on Sept. 7 at 3:45 p.m. – An unknown person fraudulently cashed a check.
  • Bicycle Theft at Haverford High School (200 block of Mill Road) on Sept. 8 at 8:30 p.m.
  • Fraud at the 1800 block of Robinson Avenue on Sept. 8 at 10:27 p.m. – An unknown person called the victim claiming to be from Amazon Security selling a firewall program. The victim sent $50 worth of Google Play cards and then realized it was a scam.
  • Robbery at Giant (100 block of W. Township Line Road) on Sept. 9 at 2:20 p.m. – A white male stole multiple DVDs and attempted to flee the store. Loss prevention officer approached him and the suspect grabbed him by the shoulders and threw him to the ground. The subject then grabbed the merchandise and fled.
  • Identity Theft at the unit block of Crescent Hill Drive on Sept. 10 at 4:44 p.m. – Victim reported that an unknown person used her identity to make an online purchase.
  • Simple Assault at 7-Eleven (100 block of W. Eagle Road) on Sept. 11 at 6:43 p.m. – investigation ongoing.
  • Public Drunkenness at Brick and Brew (2100 block of Darby Road) on Sept. 11 at 4:52 p.m. – White male, 38, 2100 block of Darby Road was cited for public drunkenness.

ARRESTS:

  • White male, 25, Homeless. Charges: Access device issued to another who did not authorize use, public drunkenness, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Location: 700 block of E. Township Line Road. Date: Sept. 11 at 9:30 a.m.
