Toddler Hit, Killed In Haverford YMCA Parking Lot

A 2-year-old child was struck and killed at the Haverford Area YMCA parking lot Saturday, according to police.

HAVERFORD TOWNSHIP, PA — A 2-year-old child was struck and killed at the Haverford Area YMCA parking lot Saturday, Nov. 17, according to police. The victim was a 2-year-old girl, who was killed after being struck at about 12:30 p.m., police said.

The child may have walked away from her mother while in the parking lot and sat on the ground between cars, police said. The driver of the striking vehicle pulled into the parking stall and struck the child. The driver said he never saw the child, police said.

The child was transported to Lankenau Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. Both the victim and the driver are Haverford Township residents, according to police.

The driver of the striking vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.

The Haverford Area YMCA closed early due to the tragedy.
