Councilman Gregory Nesbitt Resigns After 19 Years In Horsham Township
Nesbitt resigned at Wednesday's Horsham council meeting due to his work as a trial lawyer. He leaves with a year remaining on his term.

HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA —Long-time Horsham Township Councilman Gregory S. Nesbitt closed business in the last council meeting of the year Wednesday by announcing his immediate resignation.
"After serving 19 years, it is with a heavy heart that I announce my resignation," said Nesbitt, 56, a Republican who has lived in the township for nearly 50 years.
He leaves the council with one year remaining on his term.

Nesbitt explained that his decision is due to his job with the law firm of Kilcoyne & Nesbitt, LLC in Plymouth Meeting, where he serves as a trial lawyer specializing in defending physicians and hospitals in medical malpractice cases.
"Ever since the pandemic ended, the courts opened up. It's all I can do," he said. "I can't continue to serve. I've missed too many meetings. I'm not putting forth the effort. Someone else will do my job instead."

Nesbitt, a fourth-generation resident, said he loved every minute of his service to the township.
"We achieved a lot. I love Horsham. This is the best-run town in America," he said. "This is the real deal. This is a really good government. It's been special. We have our act together here."
Nesbitt graduated from Hatboro-Horsham High School, Moravian College, and Widener University School of Law, a Patch re-election profile stated in 2011. He's a married father of four children.
Nesbitt said that while he isn't going to be part of the council any longer, he will still be around in the community.
"Thank you everybody here," Nesbitt said.
Township Manager William J. Walker said the township would honor Nesbitt for his service down the road.
Council President Mark McCouch said that he and Nesbitt started their council terms together 19 years ago.
"It is with a heavy heart that we accept this," McCouch said. "You've been a great asset and a great friend."
The council will hold its reorganization meeting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3.
