Tax Hike Approved In Final Hatboro-Horsham School Budget

The Hatboro-Horsham School Board adopted the 2026-2027 school budget at its meeting on Monday night.

HATBORO / HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — The Hatboro-Horsham School Board has approved a $139.99 million 2026-2027 school budget that will increase taxes by 3.4 percent.

Bill Stone, the school district's director of business affairs, said that there are no staffing or academic program reductions.

The district faced a $3.2 million deficit that resulted in a tax increase of 1.9 mills, bringing the total millage to 36.16 mills to balance the budget.

The vote at Monday night's school board meeting was unanimous.

In terms of the tax increase:

  • For a home assessed at $118,210, the tax increase will be $12.18 a month or $146.16 a year.
  • For a home assessed at $150,490, the tax hike will be $15.39 a month or $184.68 more a year.
  • A home assessed at $215,840 will pay $21.87 more a month or $262.44 more a year.

School officials said that salaries and benefits account for 68 percent of the total budget.

Stone said local sources fund 77 percent of the budget.

The state contributes 20 percent of the total budget and federal (1 percent) and other sources make up the remainder, Stone said.
