NEWS POST: Subject Arrested on Outstanding Warrant (crimewatch.net) — Lancaster Township Police arrested Joshua Luis Roman on September 22 after coordinating a meeting related to an outstanding Lancaster County warrant for failing to appear on drug charges. Officers took him into custody without incident, and he is now held at Lancaster County Prison pending further court proceedings, with all charges still to be proven in court.
   

2. Lancaster teen will spend at least 9 years in prison for role in ambush shooting (lancasteronline.com) — A Lancaster city teen, Amari Poole, has been sentenced to nine to 20 years in state prison for an ambush shooting that missed its target but struck a home in 2024. His mother and another Lancaster teen still face attempted homicide and related charges, including a separate shooting near King Elementary School, keeping these cases highly relevant for city residents concerned about neighborhood safety.
   

3. Lancaster community center fosters learning and connection through English classes (wgal.com) — A Lancaster community center is offering flexible English classes and free laptops to help Hispanic residents build language skills, confidence, and job opportunities. Longtime teacher Danny Gingrich and pastor Joel Peña are growing a global learning network from Lancaster, while directly supporting local families across the Susquehanna Valley.
   

4. DEP pushes composting facility to pay over $700,000 in civil penalties related to fires (local21news.com) — A & M Composting's Lancaster County facility must pay over $700,000 in civil penalties and halt accepting waste until state inspectors approve operations, following wastewater violations tied to two major fires. The DEP agreement also forces operational changes, including upgraded fire procedures and equipment standards, aimed at protecting local air, water, and nearby communities from future incidents.
   

5. Pequea Twp. supervisors agree to give $11,500 to Lancaster EMS (lancasteronline.com) — Pequea Township supervisors just approved an $11,500 donation to Lancaster EMS, reinforcing funding for ambulance service that many Lancaster County residents rely on. They also moved ahead with major grant applications for equipment and set public dates this fall for 2027 budget workshops and the final budget hearing.
