12 Fire Companies Around Montgomery County To Get State Funding

These 12 Montgomery County fire companies will receive more than $160K in funding from the state, officials announced Friday.

A total of twelve Montgomery County fire companies will receive more than $160K in funding from the state, officials announced Friday.

The money comes from slot machine funding, through a grant program organized by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and the Office of the State Fire Commissioner, according to Montgomery County State Rep. Marcy Toepel (R-147), who announced the funding.

"The busy times in which we live prevent most of us from volunteering in such a dedicated and meaningful way, and it doesn’t make sense to further burden our volunteer firefighters and emergency services personnel who are already working so hard," Toepel said. "These grants help to finance necessary equipment, which minimizes the time volunteers must spend fundraising – which is often the reason volunteers leave."
