Cannoneers to Host Military Appreciation Night
The event will feature local veterans returning home from deployments abroad

On Saturday June 4, the Lansdale Cannoneers' Baseball Association will host a Military Appreciation Night, welcoming home active-duty servicemembers as they return from deployments abroad.
"We have several vets that are coming home on leave, or returning from Afghanistan, Iraq, or somewhere else overseas," said Eric Geiger, president of the Cannoneers' Baseball Association and manager of the Montgomeryville-Lansdale Patch Bulldogs of Lansdale Little League.
Admission costs $10 per person, with all proceeds going to help support Cannoneers' Youth Sports.

"Cannoneers is a huge asset to youth sports in the greater North Penn area," said Geiger. "We're looking for as much support as possible."
The benefit will run from 6 p.m. Saturday until 2 a.m. Sunday. The cost of admission includes all-you-can-eat and all-you-can-drink, as well as a chance to win a variety of door prizes and raffles.

"We're also going to have silent auctions, a large amount of giveaways, discounted tickets, and lots of other things," said Geiger. "It's kind of an all encompassing event, including food, drinks, entertainment, and veterans going all the way back to the Korean War through the present day."
Geiger himself is no stranger to deployments, as his service in the Marine Corps has taken him on half-dozen deployments around the world, including service in Iraq, the South Pacific, and Central America. Geiger is currently in the process of preparing for another year-long deployment later this month.
""I'll be deploying again on June 27 to Bahrain," said Geiger, who currently serves in the Marine Corps Reserves, in addition to his position as a Hatfield Township Police officer.
Tickets can be purchased at any of the snack stands on the Lansdale Little League fields, and they can also be purchased at the door on the evening of the event.
