Franconia Bomb Scare Was Training Device, Police Say

Police said that the suspicious device was not live and was likely intended for training purposes.

FRANCONIA TOWNSHIP, PA — The bomb scare in Franconia Township on Wednesday afternoon was resolved without injuries when authorities determined that the suspicious device was not live and was likely intended for training purposes.

6ABC first reported the discovery of a long cylindrical object at the Franconia Township Police Department at around 1:20 p.m. Wednesday.

The device, which appeared to be explosive in nature, was found by the father of a military servicemember who is currently serving overseas. The device was not actually found in the grass, but in the servicememeber's room, police said.

It was brought out onto the grass for inspection.

Authorities determined the device posed no threat. No one was injured during the incident.
