Hatfield Gets $56K For Fire Co. Emergency Flashing Signals

A key intersection in Hatfield will be improved with two new emergency flashing signals thanks to a county grant.

HATFIELD, PA – A key intersection in Hatfield will be improved with two new emergency flashing signals for the Hatfield Fire Company, thanks to a county grant.

The area near the Union Street and Market Street intersection is the target of the improvement project, for which Hatfield Borough and Hatfield Township were awarded $56,500.

The signals are remote-controlled by the fire company during emergencies.

The grant award comes from Montgomery County's Transportation Program.

"These grants allow our municipalities to continue and enhance their many local efforts to improve transportation infrastructure," Montgomery County Commissioner Val Arkoosh said in a statement. "The focus on safety for the traveling public, whether it is ensuring safe bridges for vehicles or accessible crosswalk ramps for pedestrians, is vital to maintaining the smooth flow of people and goods throughout the County."

Five other projects were awarded countywide, with a total of $925,485 disbursed to municipalities.

Projects in Hatboro, Lower Pottsgrove, Royersford, Upper Hanover, and Upper Moreland were also funded.

The Transportation Program is funded by the county's $5 vehicle registration renewal fee.
