Lansdale Councilman To Run For PA State Representative
Lansdale's Steve Malagari has announced his run for the seat that's been held by State Rep. Robert Godshall for 35 years.

LANSDALE, PA — Lansdale's Steve Malagari has announced his run for state representative in the 53rd district.
Malagari, 34, who is in his second term on the Borough Council, is a graduate of both North Penn High School and Ursinus College. He is a Democrat.
“I will make sure we responsibly invest in Pennsylvania’s future, while looking out for taxpayers,” Malagari said in a statement. “We need balanced leadership in Harrisburg. As state representative, I will work to strengthen our education system, from pre-k to higher education. We need to invest in our infrastructure and create policies that promote job growth. I will also work to protect our pension system and make sure we look out for the interests of older adults across this state.”

The 53rd district comprises Lansdale, Hatfield and Hatfield Township, Franconia, Souderton, Telford, and Salford.
The seat has been held by Republican State Rep. Robert Godshall since 1983. Godshall announced his retirement just days ago.

While serving on the council, Malagari has served as council vice president, as well as on a wide variety of committees, including Administration, Parks and Recreation, Public Safety, Public Works, and Code Enforcement, according to his campaign.
He also serves on the Montgomery County Transportation Authority.
