Lansdale Elementary School To Host 'Diversity Dinner'

The unique event will celebrate different cultures. Students and families are asked to bring a dish that represents their heritage.

LANSDALE, PA Inglewood Elementary School is proud to announce that it will be hosting the first Diversity Dinner on Wednesday, May 18 from 5:45 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the cafeteria, the school district announced.

Led by the Cultural Competency Committee at Inglewood, the evening will consist of a buffet style dinner for Inglewood students and families who were asked to sign up to bring an appetizer, main entrée, side dish or dessert that represents their culture or heritage.

Nearly 20 families (over 75 people) and some staff members are expected to attend the first annual Diversity Dinner.

“We were extremely pleased with this number considering it is our one,” said Peggy Groller, Chair of the Inglewood Cultural Competency Committee.

Other members of the committee include Carolyn Barr-Hubbard, Allison Taroff, Tamara Nardo, Erin Lord, Orlando Taylor and Jessica Meschino, who have been working for three years to put this event into fruition.

The committee plans to take pictures and provide speech bubbles for guests to make comments to be displayed on a bulletin board at Inglewood Elementary for the rest of the school year. There will also be multi-cultural music playing in the background at the event.
