Lansdale Train Station Improvements to Be Reviewed Monday

Lansdale Borough’s Planning Commission will be reviewing SEPTA’s plans for a new parking garage and pedestrian bridge at the Lansdale Train Station during its meeting Monday, according to The Reporter.

The meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Wissahickon Park Building, 765 East Main St., Lansdale.

In June, SEPTA presented its plans for a new 667-space parking garage and pedestrian bridge at the Lansdale Station.

According to SEPTA, the improvements are needed because demand for parking at the station, the most frequently used on the Lansdale/Doylestown Line, is on the rise.

According to the presentation, the 590 parking spots at the Lansdale Station are fully utilized on many weekdays. Multiple mixed-use and residential developments that are planned for Lansdale will only increase ridership from the station, SEPTA said during the presentation.

By 2019, SEPTA estimates that an average of 1,571 people will board trains from Lansdale each day.

The new parking garage will increase spots at the station to 899, with 667 of them inside the structure. A pedestrian bridge is also planned as part of the project.

SEPTA anticipates that construction on the garage will begin next summer. Construction will last about 18 months, SEPTA estimates. SEPTA said it will provide alternative parking during construction.
