BLUE BELL, PA — Montgomery County Community College has been named among Military Times' 2018 "Best Colleges," a designation previously known as "Best for Vets.
More than 600 colleges were analyzed in the 2018 survey; 218 made Military Times' list. Only 34 of those schools were community colleges, and MCCC was the only community college in Pennsylvania.
“At Montgomery County Community College, we provide our student veterans with an easier transition to college life, by providing them with access to resources, a space to study and gather on campus, and dedicated staff members to address their specific needs," Veterans Resource Coordinator Michael Brown said in a statement. "Our goal is to provide them with tangible tools that they can use to further their education and eventually obtain their career goals."

According to Montco, the honor is part of the publication's "editorial independent," research based determinations.

MCCC organizes a variety of veterans-oriented programs, including an annual Mindfulness Retreat on the Appalachian Trail, specially designed psychology courses, and the Veterans History Project. The latter records interviews with veterans from the school and wider community. They are kept for posterity at MCCC's library and the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., the school said.
