North Penn Basketball Players Selected For Philly All Star Labor Classic Charity Game

LANSDALE, PA -- Several senior student-athletes at North Penn High School have been selected to play in the upcoming Philadelphia University All Star Labor Classic, the school district announced.

Sam Carangi, David Guiliani, Jess Huber, and Irisa Ye will each participate in the 30th Annual event, which will take place on Sunday, April 9 at 10:30 a.m.

The Classic is a high school basketball fundraiser sponsored by Philadelphia’s Organized Labor, that has raised over $2 million to benefit Blossom Philadelphia and high school athletes. Proceeds from the ASLC will benefit Blossom Philadelphia supporting programs and services to help serve children and adults with a spectrum of diseases, North Penn said.

Over the last 30 years, the ASLC has raised over $2 million and award more than 300 college scholarships to over 2,000 college-bound high school basketball players.

Players were nominated based on five criteria:

  • Pl ayer is currently a high school senior and is projected to graduate with his or her senior class in June 2017.
  • Player attends any high school in one of the following five counties: Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery or Philadelphia.
  • Player has played basketball during the current season.
  • Player had demonstrated a willingness to cooperate with teammates and has a positive attitude about the sport, his/her talent and the competition.
