North Penn 'K-Day' Lets Kindergarteners, 1st Graders, and Parents Practice Riding Bus
North Penn's "K-Day" has been running for 16 years.

LANSDALE, PA – For the 16th consecutive year, the North Penn School District Transportation Department is holding its annual K-Day event, the district announced in a press release.
More than 500 students are expected to participate in this wonderful program, which is designed to ease the anxiety that can be felt by kindergarten and first grade students (and their parents) who are first-timers on the big yellow school bus, the release states.
Kindergarten and first grade students from surrounding non-public and private schools are also encouraged to attend, the school said.

No reservations are necessary.
Participants have the opportunity to explore the bus while NPSD bus drivers explain school bus facts and safety information. Parents, students and their siblings are then invited to take a seat for a short ride around the neighborhood. The exciting day will wrap up with a safety video and safety education regarding the “danger zone” around the bus when loading and unloading. Information regarding bus tags, bus schedules, emergency phone numbers and day care locations will be distributed as well, the district said.

Last year’s program was a huge success, the school said, proving to be "both educational and adventurous for our incoming Kindergarten and first grade students as well as their families."
The event will once again be held at Walton Farm Elementary School, located at 1610 Allentown Road in Lansdale. K-Day will be offered on two different dates, each of which will host two time slots to attend:
Thursday, August 4th 2016 9:00 a.m. & 11:00 a.m.
Thursday, August 11th 2016 9:00 a.m. & 11:00 a.m.
Participation in K-Day is voluntary and does not preclude the safety training that occurs in all 13 of the district’s elementary schools each fall, the press release states.
