North Penn, Lansdale Catholic Sports Week in Review

Lansdale Catholic softball captured the championship last week, and North Penn baseball's season came to an end.

The Lansdale Catholic softball team captured the Philadelphia Catholic League championship without a hit. 

The Crusaders got past St. Hubert 3-1, despite going hitless in the victory. All three Lansdale Catholic runs came on bases-loaded walks. Mary Cate Scott pitched a complete game two-hitter for the Crusaders.

The baseball team at Lansdale Catholic made history earlier in the week. The Crusaders won their first ever Philadelphia Catholic League playoff game as they downed Archbishop Carroll 6-5.

The season came to an end for Lansdale Catholic in the quarterfinals, as they fell to Neumann-Goretti, 13-3. The Crusaders close out their season with a record of 9-12.

The softball team at North Penn fell to Pennsbury 1-0 in the quarterfinals of the District One AAAA Tournament. The loss does not end the season for the Maidens. They still have a chance to earn the fifth and final spot in the state tournament.

Earlier in the week, North Penn advanced to the quarterfinals with an impressive 10-0 victory over Interboro. Michelle Holweger hit a two-run home run in the victory.

An error-filled day led to the downfall of the baseball team at North Penn. The Knights’ season came to an end with a 9-6 loss to Marple Newtown in the second round of the PIAA Quad-A District One playoffs. 

North Penn scored four runs in the first inning, but fell behind after committing five errors. Three errors came in the bottom of the sixth when the Tigers plated six runs. Earlier in the week, North Penn advanced to the second round with a 6-0 victory over Kennett. The Knights’ pitchers allowed just six hits in the game.
