North Penn Teacher Competes At World Triathlon Championships
The North Penn School District teacher placed 71st overall and third among all Americans.

LANSDALE, PA — Elementary school teachers are often described as superhumans, and the word certainly applies to Hatfield Elementary School teacher Joe Ricci.
Ricci recently competed in this past weekend's ITU World Triathlon Series Championships in Zofingen, Switzerland.
His specific event, the Powerman Zonfigen, is often described as among the hardest duathlons in the world, North Penn said.

The event's 600-plus participants ran 10 kilometers, biked 150 kilometers, and finished things off by running another 10 kilometers.
Ricci placed 71st overall and was the third American. He also placed eighth in his age group.

Ricci, who teaches 4th grade at Hatfield Elementary, then returned home to Pennsylvania for the start of the 2017-18 school year.
