PA's 9/11 Memorial Is Inspiration For Border Wall, Trump Says

A memorial to the lives lost on September 11, 2001 in Pennsylvania has reportedly sparked President Trump's imagination for what a wall along the border with Mexico could look like.

In a recent interview with The Hill TV, President Trump said that the memorial's walls were "perfect."

A total of 44 passengers, including four terrorists were killed when United Airlines Flight 93 crashed in Shanksville, Somerset County, in southwestern Pennsylvania on Sept. 11, 2001.

"They built this gorgeous wall where the plane went down in Pennsylvania, Shanksville," Trump said in the interview. "And I was there. I made the speech. And it’s sort of beautiful, what they did is incredible," he said. “They have a series of walls, I’m saying, it’s like perfect. So, so, we are pushing very hard."

It's not clear if Trump was inspired to copy the design of the memorial wall, or if it hardened his resolve to complete his own wall.

The Hill TV interview was largely focused on the progress his administration had made thus far in preparing to get the border wall built.

During the interview, Trump also hinted that he might use executive powers to expedite progress on the wall, which has not begun construction.
