'Souderton Area For All' Receives Donation From PA Tourism Office

Souderton Area For All is a recently formed nonprofit organization whose goal is to spread inclusivity awareness throughout the region.

SOUDERTON, PA — One of the newest nonprofit organizations in this part of central Montgomery County has just received a state donation to go toward its mission of spreading inclusivity awareness throughout the region.

Souderton Area For All, which was incorporated earlier this year, received a check late last week in the amount of $1,500 from the Pennsylvania Tourism Office to help with its work to promote their vision of a "just, equitable, and compassionate community."

The award was announced by the office of State Rep. Steve Malagari, a Montgomery County Democrat.

"I'm really proud of what everyone out here is working toward," Malagari said in a statement. "It's great to see the community come together to ensure everyone feels welcome. These celebrations show our LGBTQ+ neighbors that Souderton is a place they can show their pride."

Volunteers working with Souderton Area For All, which held its first public event on June 4 to kick off LGBTQ+ Pride Month, told Malagari that the group appreciates the state's financial award from the Tourism Office.

According to Malagari's office, the nonprofit organization, before its formation as a 501(c)(3), had held various backyard get-togethers, spoken out at local school board meetings, and hosted Zoom webinars to gain community awareness and spread its message.

On its website, the organization says it aims to "share in the vision of a more just, equitable, and compassionate community where children and families flourish and thrive regardless of race, ethnicity, cultural heritage, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, gender, religion, or disability."

The group says it is united by common values including "nonviolence, compassion, curiosity and connection."

Souderton Area For All said that it was granted nonprofit status by the Internal Revenue Service as a tax-exempt organization in May of this year.
