Tigers Hand Bulldogs Their Third Straight Loss

Solid pitching and hitting wasn't enough to overcome a multitude of errors

Friday night's game between the Air-Tight Heating and Cooling Tigers and the Montgomeryville-Lansdale Patch Bulldogs was the type of game that could give a coach nightmares.

Coach Eric Geiger watched from the dugout as his squad plated six runs on the heels of a solid pitching effort, just to watch it all slip away due to an abundance of errors.

"You can't win a baseball game without defense," said Geiger.  "We can do it in practice.  Now we need to put it on the field."

The trouble began early in the top half of the first.  Kyle Champagne was pitching well, and looked to get out of the first having only surrendered one run.  Then a quick pair of errors gave new life to the Tigers, who pounced on the opportunity, batting around the order plus two.

Geiger tried to rally his squad with a quick speech in between innings, which seemed to motivate a few of the players.

"C'mon guys!  Pick your heads up and let's hit!" said Quincy Adams, third baseman for the Bulldogs.

They came out on fire, plating three runs in the bottom of the first, but their comeback was short-lived as errors in the second, third, and fourth inning all but guaranteed another loss for the winless club.

The loss drops the Bulldogs to 0-3 on the season, but despite the loss, there were quite a few positives to take away from the game.

Champagne had a monstrous game, knocking in a few runs with an RBI single and later an RBI double.  He also stole two bases, made a terrific diving catch and struck out a couple in two innings on the mound.

Kyle Macy continued his hot streak with two doubles and an RBI, and Ja'eed Wills had a double, a walk and a couple runs scored.

After the game, Geiger addressed his team, urging them to work on their focus, while putting the sloppy outing in the rearview.

"We know we can hit. We can put the runs on the boards, guys!" said Geiger. "Let's just forget about this one, and focus on the next game."

The Bulldogs next game is scheduled for Monday, May 2 at 6 p.m.
