Royersford Gets $181K State Grant For Riverfront Trail

Royersford's redevelopment continues: the borough has received a $181,000 grant from the state to develop the Riverfront Trail project.

ROYERSFORD, PA — Royersford's ongoing redevelopment took another step forward last week as the borough received a $181,000 grant from the state for the Riverfront Trail project.

The grant is a part of Gov. Tom Wolf's announcement last week that $44 million would be invested in 266 recreation and community revitalization projects statewide.

“Communities go from good to great when they provide residents and visitors with parks and trails, access to waterways, and opportunities for healthy outdoor activity,” Governor Wolf said in a statement. “This $44 million in grants will support communities throughout Pennsylvania working to protect and improve natural amenities for our citizens.”

The Riverfront Trail project will include the construction about 0.2 miles of trail from Arch Street to the borough line, officials said. In addition, the funds will provide for ADA access, landscaping, signage, and other improvements.

This round of funding is in addition to $100,000 that came from a round of funding in November to improve Riverfront Park, the trail, and the West-Mont soccer complex site.

All told, 49 trail projects, 14 river conservation projects, and more than 100 park facility projects were funded. The new funding protects 8,000 additional acres of open space statewide, the governor's office said.
