Philadelphia man comes into contact with a high-tension PECO wire, dies on the scene

A Philadelphia man died yesterday after he came into contact with a high-tension electric wire while trimming a tree in the Huntingdon Valley section of Abington.
The 47-year-old man, who has not yet been identified, was working with a tree trimming company yesterday at about 3 p.m. in the 1800 block of Pine Road.
According to police, the man accidentally touched a PECO electric line that runs through the back yards that separate Pine Road from Lippincott Road.

A co-worker on the ground pulled the victim from the power line by pulling on a rope that was dangling from the victim, but the victim remained stuck in the tree, police said.
PECO then cut power to the wires; the McKinley Fire Co. then used a ladder to lower the victim to the ground where he was pronounced dead.
