Traffic To Be Detoured Through Collegeville During Egypt Road Shutdown

Egypt Road will close next week for repairs. More traffic, somehow, is headed Phoenixville's way.

Egypt Road will be shut down from July 13 through July 16 and traffic will be detoured to Black Rock Road and Route 29, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said.

The work will be completed overnight from 7:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m.

The ”road base repairs” are in advance of the upcoming resurfacing of seven miles of Egypt Road between Route 29 and Main Street later on this summer.

“Motorists are advised to allow extra time to travel through the area,” PennDOT said in a press release.

The closure is the latest in a series of traffic woes for Phoenixville and the surrounding area.

The Route 23 bridge closure has been the cause of consternation and state congressional analysis for months.

U.S. 422 has seen its share of significant problems, including ”buckling” in the heat earlier this summer.

Now, 17 miles of state highway are set to be repaved this summer, only adding to the already worsening situation.
