Independence Physician Management (IPM)
IPM was formed in June 2012 to be a separate and distinct
physician management unit of UHS. IPM is dedicated to the support
and service of the acute care facilities and provides only
incidental services to behavioral health. We are the comprehensive
arm of UHS providing services to both employed and independent
physicians in our markets.
The legal entity is a wholly owned subsidiary of UHS and all
management decisions and contracts are held directly with IPM and
its subsidiaries. The acute care facilities do not have management
oversight or contracting authority due to the separation of legal
entities and the liability protection it provides. We have further
developed the legal structure by creating entities in each of the
states we do business in. This separation creates a focused
division with expertise in the areas of practice management and
development, strategic planning, on-boarding of new physicians and
support services dedicated to the operational excellence of our
employed practices.
