Michaela L. Moore Awarded the 2015 Jennifer Stagnaro Memorial Scholarship

Mike Stagnaro of Malvern, recently presented the Jennifer Stagnaro Memorial Scholarship to Great Valley Senior, Michaela L. Moore during the Great Valley Senior Awards Ceremony. The $5000 scholarship is presented to a graduating senior heading to college, who demonstrates outstanding character. Michaela L Moore will attend The University of South Carolina as an elementary education major.

During her Great Valley High School career, Michaela was involved in many school activities, clubs and projects. These include an internship with a K.D. Markley elementary school first grade class, Great Valley High School Child Development Program working with preschool children and participation on the basketball, field hockey, lacrosse and swim team. Michaela was was an active volunteer in the community serving The Runnifer - the 5K event that funded the scholarship, Zanes Run, Butterfly Run and the Senior Citizens Luncheon in the Desmond Project,
Michaela participated in many clubs including Habitat for Humanity, Sign Language and prepared meals for the homeless in Philadelphia as part of the Bethesda Project.

Jennifer Stagnaro was a beloved wife and mother who passed suddenly on November 18, 2013. Jennifer had been a dedicated and integral part of the Great Valley school community, volunteering her time and energy to ensure that the school system provided the greatest educational opportunities for her children and for all the children of Great Valley. Wishing to honor Jennifer’s memory and spirit, the Great Valley Middle School PTO (for whom she had served as president) and Jennifer’s friends and family worked together to create the Jennifer Shirley Stagnaro Memorial Scholarship to be awarded to a Great Valley High School senior planning to attend college after graduation.The scholarship will be awarded each year until Spring 2020, when Jennifer’s youngest child, Drew, will graduate from high school.
