Poll Results: Malvern Says No To Most Chains, Yes To Local
Trader Joe's, Burger King, nothing at all? The votes may surprise you.

On Tuesday, we asked you what businesses you’d most like to see in Malvern.
Malvern, it turns out, is very similar to its neighbors.

Malvern, Phoenixville, Roxborough, Lansdale, Horsham, and Norristown all share one thing in common: more than anything else, they want a Trader Joe’s. In Malvern, 28% of all respondents voted for the grocery chain.

There are 457 Trader Joes scattered throughout the United States.
Most other towns around the area also voted for Whole Foods in second or third place behind Trader Joe’s. Whole Foods slipped to fourth in this poll, perhaps because there’s already a Whole Foods in Devon.
The area voted for “more local” as the second highest priority, with 20% of the vote.
Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods are both “alternative” food stores, however, with a high focus on locally produced food.
Seen in that way, 64% of all respondents prefer locally oriented development over atypical corporate chains or unhealthy food options.
