David Hamilton, the accused child rapist who led police on a multi-state manhunt, has been captured, authorities said.

Hamilton, 47, a native of Trevose, Pa. was captured in Aston, Delaware County, Pa. by U.S. Marshals on Friday morning, police confirmed.

The ongoing, nine-day search for Hamilton has taken authorities from Bucks County and down into Delaware. Hamilton was spotted camping in the woods near the canal in New Hope, and he stole a car along the way. He was also harbored by a woman who has since been charged.

The manhunt extended past Bucks County and police warned people in northwestern New Jersey that he could be on the loose in that area.

Police were told on Friday morning Roberts was staying on the 100 block of Roberts Road in Aston. U.S. Marshals were assisted by PA State Police and Aston Police in capturing him.

Nearby, Sun Valley High School and Northley Middle School were locked down as the arrest was made. The lockdown has since been lifted and there is no further threat to the area.

Hamilton was wanted by Lower Southampton Police on 12 child sex assault charges, including child rape. A warrant for Hamilton's arrest was issued on Sept. 19 and authorities have been actively searching for him since Sept. 21.
