How job seekers can be motivated by "Thomas the engine?”
What can you learn from Thomas the engine that may help you with your job search? "Thomas", "little engine that could".

“How Job Seekers can be motivated By "THOMAS THE ENGINE"?
Nothing has more impact on career or job search success than one's “attitude.” If we have an attitude that includes, "I—think—I—can, I—think—I—can." All things are possible!!
It didn’t matter the size of the cars that needed to be pulled, Thomas had the “determination” to compete his task at hand. Remember the happy locomotive or the toy train who breaks down and gives up. Job search should eliminate words like “giving up, there’ no jobs for me, I’m too old, nobody cares or I don’t like the word no!”
How about “confidence?” How could Thomas outperform the big cars? All the cars refused to help, thinking they weren’t qualified. When was the last time you said to yourself, “I’m not qualified for this position?” Remember the pompous passenger engine who considers himself too grand for the task? Thomas always appears last and, although perhaps reluctant always rises to the occasion with confidence and saves the day for the children over the mountain.

I often hear I’m too old to find a good job. If you keep saying this you will be “too old to find a good job”! The “elderly engine” that lacks either the strength or determination to help gave up! A few suggestions: First, appearance does matters. Don't wear anything outdated. Second, be prepared with examples. You must be perceived as the person who is the solution to the employer's problem. Third, emphasize accomplishments and results achieved. And lastly, bring a winning attitude.
What about “Transferable skills?” Thomas was a switcher by training, but adapted to doing rail work and moving large engines. Transferable skills utilize our aptitude and knowledge acquired through personal experience such as education, jobs, hobbies, sports, etc. Basically any talent developed and able to be used in future employment.
