Patron Causes Disturbance At Restaurant: New Hope Police Report

Two cited for harassment; man breaks fence, charged with criminal mischief, public intoxication; driver faces DUI charge.

NEW HOPE BOROUGH, PA — The New Hope Borough Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between April 1 and April 7:

Saturday, April 1

  • Police were dispatched at 1:15 a.m. on April 1 to a restaurant on South Main Street for a subject causing a disturbance. On arrival, officers were directed by the manager of the restaurant to remove a patron who had been yelling at staff and refusing to leave, police said. The subject was asked by police to leave and the subject complied.
  • At 1:45 a.m. police were advised by patrons at a South Main restaurant that they observed a man break a fence in the area of 95-97 S. Main Street. New Hope Borough Police Officers on foot nearby responded. A 21 year old man from Whitehouse Station, N.J., was taken into custody. He was discovered to be intoxicated and belligerent. The man was charged with Disorderly Conduct, Criminal Mischief and Public Intoxication. The case will proceed by summons.

  • At 7:52 p.m. a vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation on S. Main Street. The driver, a 21-year-old Hatboro man, was discovered to be in possession of suspected marijuana and paraphernalia. The driver will be charged by summons.
  • At 1:23 a.m., a New Hope officer on patrol observed a vehicle travel the wrong way on West Mechanic and Waterloo streets. The vehicle was stopped and a 23-year-old Ringoes, N.J., man was found to be the operator. While speaking with the driver it became apparent that he might be under the influence of alcohol. The driver was given field sobriety tests and was taken to Doylestown Hospital to have blood drawn for analysis. He will be charged by summons with Driving Under the Influence.

Friday, April 7

  • At 8:23 p.m., New Hope Police were dispatched to a restaurant on S. Main Street for a female who had walked out without paying her bill. Officers responded and spoke with a 23-year-old female from Asbury Park, N.J. The female was Intoxicated and argumentative. She was charged with Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct and Public Intoxication.

  • New Hope Officers were dispatched to South Main Street for a group of people about to become involved in a physical confrontation. Upon arrival, police conducted an investigation that resulted in two of the individuals - a 55 year old from New Cumberland and a 29 years old from Colts Neck, N.J., - being cited for harassment.
