This past month, singer/songwriter Lily Mae Oppenheim of Furlong, a junior at Solebury School, has seen her music career gain momentum, and on Saturday, January 12 at 7:30 p.m., Lily Mae will be hosting and singing her original songs during her own CD release concert in the Solebury School Performing Arts Center on the school’s Phillips Mill Road campus. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 215-862-5261 or check www.solebury.org
With that distinct sound of an open-tuned acoustic guitar and a jazzy, folksy soprano voice reminiscent of the legendary Joni Mitchell, Lily Mae has been and continues to grow as a talented singer/songwriter. She draws inspiration from popular Indy singer/songwriter Jenny Owen Youngs among others.
Here is what Lily has been doing. In December, Lily has played at The Tea Lounge and The Green Point Gallery in New York City and locally at Going Bananas in Richboro, and on January 4, Lily was WXPN radio’s artist pick of the day. Even more exciting is her gig on February 23 at the New Hope Winery when she will be opening for singer/songwriter Livingston Taylor. And there’s more. Lily has just released her debut CD of original songs titled “Early Days,” which is now available on iTunes. She is also currently slated to be interviewed for the popular UK folk magazine/website, “For Folk’s Sake.”
