Closing Date Set For Newtown's Gap Body

The company confirmed a closing date for its Gap Body store on State Street in Newtown.

Gap representatives confirm the location will close on Aug. 21. Athleta will be opening in the vacated space but a specific date for that transition has not yet been set.

Gap Body carries various undergarments, pajamas and casual wear. Athleta, also owned by Gap, specializes in sporting wear, including yoga, running and hiking wear. There is a regular Gap store in Newtown Township, located near the Acme supermarket.

This is just one of the many changes and additions to the Newtown business landscape happening in the coming months.

Across the street from the Gap Body, the Black Horse Tavern will soon be under new ownership and be renamed to Thyme Bar and Grill. Also, the Salt Cave is opening on State Street in September, and a new rolled ice cream spot has joined the local food scene. Click here for details.

Just confirmed Thursday is another addition to the culinary options in Newtown. A made-to-order donut shop with a popular Philadelphia location will be opening a location in Newtown, however the specific address for that new business has not yet been announced pending a finalized lease.
