NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Board appointee Stephen Nowmos is running on both the Republican and Democratic ballots as a cross-filed candidate seeking nomination for an open two-year-seat on the Council Rock School Board in Region 9. He is facing Nicole Khan, who also is running as a cross-filed candidate for the nomination.

1. Why are you running?
I want to represent the constituents of my region, both the parents of the students and the taxpayers.
2. What do you feel is the biggest issue facing the CR district?
I find the biggest issues currently are finding efficiencies to control expenditures while maintaining high quality education, and assuring there is transparency between the schools and parents regarding all curricular activities and school functions.
3. What in your experience or background prepares you for election to office?
I’m a former school director and I’ve been in education for my whole career. I have been counseling patients and caregivers as a pharmacist about medical therapies for 30 years. In addition, I had a university appointment for 17 years teaching at a doctorate level.
