Lawyer, Editor and El Salvador Coffee Farm Owner to Speak about her Spiritual Journey to Newtown Quaker Meeting Adult Class

Veronica Wetherill to Speak to Newtown Quaker Meeting Adult Class

Veronica Wetherill, a member of Newton Quaker Meeting and native of El Salvador, will open the adult class series on September 20 at 9:45 a.m. by discussing her spiritual journey and her family’s roots in the coffee business in El Salvador at the historic Newtown Friends Meeting on Court Street (www.newtownfriendsmeeting.org). The public is invited to attend.

Veronica Wetherill has lived in Bucks Co. with her family for the past 9 years. She received her A.B. from Princeton University where she concentrated in Economics and Latin American Studies. She also holds a JD and a Masters in International Affairs from Georgetown University.

Veronica started her career as an international trade lawyer at Steptoe & Johnson in Washington, DC. She left the practice of law to become the politics editor for USAToday.com. She later joined the communications team at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.

Currently, Veronica works with non-profits handling grant writing and communications while she and her sister jointly manage the family coffee farm back in their homeland of El Salvador.

Veronica and her husband Dan Wetherill live in Langhorne and have two children Lucia(12) and Andrew(9) who attend Newtown Friends School.

Newtown Friends Meeting co-founded by “Peaceable Kingdom” painter and Quaker minister, Edward Hicks, in 1815, is open to all who wish to attend. Regular First Day Education classes (Sunday School) for all ages begin at 9:45 a.m. and Meeting for Worship begins at 11 a.m. Childcare is provided.
