Petrucci, 41, is a Pennsylvania State Constable and president of the Newtown Business Association.

Pennsylvania State Constable Mick Petrucci, a Newtown Township resident, will run for the Magisterial District Judge seat left vacant by District Judge Donald Nasshorn, who passed away last month.

Through his role as state constable, Petrucci, 41, has been involved in thousands of criminal cases, served more than 3,500 civil complaints and dealt with more than 1,500 landlord-tenant cases, he said in an announcement.

“I was privileged to call Judge Nasshorn my friend and honored to have him as my mentor,” said Petrucci. “Since my first day working with him, Judge Nasshorn’s leadership illustrated how our local court works best for the people of Newtown.”

“My goal as District Judge is to do more than keep our neighborhoods safe and resolve disputes fairly, it is to come down from the bench and make our community a stronger, better place for all of us,” said Petrucci. “I will continue and build upon my civic activities because I believe that to provide the best judgments for citizens requires really knowing the people you are serving, and being active in the community is how that happens.”
