NAC Spa Unveils New Look
A week-long grand opening celebration begins Sunday with an event for brides-to-be.
The salon and spa has recently undergone a makeover and members of the public are invited to check it out during a weeklong grand opening celebration that starts Sunday.
Formerly known as Club Salon and Spa, the new facility has been appropriately renamed Urban Allure Salon and Spa. Located inside the NAC, it’s open to all members of the public. Plus, even nonmembers can utilize the club’s free childcare while enjoying a pedicure, having their hair done, or getting a massage.
Spa Director Kim Levins said the facility’s makeover was needed to open the space up and show the community all the services offered. She said some people didn’t even know the spa was there and open to the general public. “Many people didn’t even know we had a downstairs,” she said.

Linda Mitchell, director of public relations and marketing for the NAC, said the spa is now more visible – and more inviting. “Now when you walk in (to the club), you can’t miss it,” she said.
Mitchell describes the new look as “open and spacious” with an “urban, industrial, yet vintage look.”

It’s not the just the look that’s changed. The salon and spa now offers increased services, including additional hair and nail stations, more lounges, and a beauty bar for makeup applications.
Levins said the spa now offers comprehensive wedding and special event services. The spa can be rented out for wedding parties and special events. Makeup, hair, nails, and more can be provided for members of the group.
Perhaps best of all, there’s now a wine and beverage bar. All spa patrons can receive complimentary beverages of their choice, including red and white wine.
“It’s really about the experience,” Mitchell said. “We want you to feel at home. We want to make the experience complete and relaxing, so if that means you want a glass of wine, then we have wine. If you want tea or coffee, we have that too.”
Renovations at the salon and spa began over the winter and the majority of the work was completed by the end of March. Throughout April, final finishing touches have been added. Now, Mitchell said, the NAC is excited to unveil the spa to the public in a series of events starting Sunday.
On Sunday, Urban Allure will host a Bridal Mini-Affair from 2 to 5 p.m. Stylists will showcase bridal hair and makeup looks. There will be an informal fashion show and a mini expo featuring various vendors.
On Monday from 5 to 9 p.m. it’s Guys Night. Men can gather and enjoy a beer and some food while learning about services and watching demos by Urban Allure’s new master barber Kyle Housley.
And Tuesday, it’s the ladies’ turn. That night from 5 to 9 p.m., it’s Women’s Night. Wine and food will be provided and various hair and makeup demos will be given. Levins said that event is “BYOB” – bring your own brush. Women can bring their own styling equipment form home and get professional advice on how to style using those items.
On Thursday, May 5, Urban Allure is holding its own Cinco de Mayo celebration. The grand opening party is that evening from 5 to 9 p.m. The doors will be open for everyone to come in and enjoy a margarita while touring the new facility.
Finally, on Friday, there’s a special event for ladies. Personal Trainer Judy Varian will be teaching an “Allure” exercise class that focuses on dance moves. Stop in the spa beforehand for a glass of wine or stay late for the after party at Urban Allure, which will feature drinks and snacks.
