Re-Elected Council Rock Board Member Responds To Election Results
Republican Joseph Hidalgo reaffirms his commitment to the "betterment of our schools and the future of every student in Council Rock."

NORTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP, PA — Incumbent Council Rock School Board member Joseph Hidalgo, who won re-election to the school board on Tuesday in Northampton Township, expressed gratitude to the voters who supported him in the election and reaffirmed his "commitment to the betterment of our schools.
"To all the voters who came out and voted for me, I am overwhelmed with gratitude," he posted on social media. "Thank you for your unwavering support for me and the work I am doing for all our children. I am deeply honored and humbled to have earned your trust once again. I reaffirm my commitment to the betterment of our schools and the future of every student in Council Rock. I will continue to advocate for transparency, collaboration, and accountability within the school board to make informed, student focused decisions."
Hidalgo is one of two Republicans who won election to the board on Tuesday in a night that saw big Democratic victories. He was challenged by Democrat Matthew Laskowski for a four year seat on the school board in Region 4.

"To my opponent, Matthew. Our democracy thrives when we have dedicated individuals willing to stand up and serve their community," writes Hidalgo. "I acknowledge your hard work and appreciate the spirited dialogue we engaged in during the campaign. I wish you all the best in success going forward.
"On a concerned note. To those across the state who ran negative political school board campaigns with attack ads funded from the top down money, your complacency in these actions have set a concerning precedent at the local level and a poor example for all the children in our communities," Hidalgo continued. "I'm deeply concerned about the unintended consequences that these divisive tactics may leave on our communities as a whole. I fail to see how any of these
actions were genuinely focused on the well-being and education of our students. If the ends justify the means, our future is truly in jeopardy.

"To that end, I am committed to healing our community, and it starts with addressing these issues. Our children deserve a positive and constructive environment in which to live, learn and grow," he writes. "It's my belief that with a little self-reflection (including my own), we can figure out how to heal and work together to create a more unified and student-centered approach to holding a seat with dignity on the Council Rock School Board."
