Scott Harp, a former Newtown Township Supervisor, passed away Aug. 9 at the age of 60. Services will be held Sunday.

Scott R. Harp of Newtown, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014. He was 60.

Born in North Adams, Mass., Scott was a former resident of Livingston, N.J.
Scott was a 1975 graduate of Albright College and he received his Master’s in Business Administration from Villanova in 1993. Scott’s professional career was in pharmaceuticals; he was employed as district manager for Mist Pharmaceuticals, a division of Akrimax, where his team of over 30 pharmaceutical representatives were the top team in sales, and previously included director of business development with Syncom Pharmaceuticals. He was an Adjunct Professor at Villanova Business School Training Program where he developed and implemented a curriculum geared towards pharmaceutical sales careers.

Scott was a man of faith, beloved community leader and devoted public servant who cared deeply about the people in his town. He impacted so many lives in countless ways with his gifts of service, thoughtfulness and his ability to problem solve. Scott was active in the Newtown community, where he served on the Newtown Township Board of Supervisors, serving as chairman from 2002 to 2004.
He helped with the development of Roberts Ridge Park and the First Fourth Celebration which began in 2000. Scott was a member and president of the Newtown Exchange Club serving in 1994 to 1995 and was serving currently. He developed the Wee Care Bear Program with the Newtown Exchange Club for the past 12 years collecting 1412 stuffed animals in 2013. He was also a member of the Newtown United Methodist Church, the Newtown Reliance Co., the Defiance Lodge, No. 335, Knights of Pythias, the Jaycees in Gaithersburg, Md. and Norristown, Pa., serving as president of the groups, the Masonic order and the Shiners. Scott became an Eagle Scout at age 16 and had served on the Executive Committee of the Bucks Co. Council of the Boy Scouts as vice president of membership.
Scott is survived by his sister, Robin and her husband, Dr. Stephen Stralka of Anchorage, Alaska; nephews, Jonathan Scott and Jason Michael Stralka, his loving life partner of over 20 years, Cindy Stephenson, and her son, Andrew Mullen. Scott is also survived by his aunt, Dolly; a cousin, Glenn (Donna) Golden; and many devoted and close friends.
Relatives and friends and members of his organization are invited to Scott’s Life Celebration on Sunday, August 17 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. and to his memorial service immediately following at the Newtown United Methodist Church, Liberty Street, Newtown. Private interment will be in Laureldale Cemetery, Reading, Pa.
