See What The $35M Newtown Shopping Center Renovation Will Look Like

NEWTOWN, PA — It's where we get our groceries, buy our sporting goods, get our nails done and enjoy a good meal. And it's going to look pretty spiffy soon.

A $35 million expansion and renovation has been approved at the Village at Newtown Shopping Center.

A plan to renovate, expand and improve the shopping center was approved at Wednesday's Newtown Township Board of Supervisors meeting. The project will add buildings and square footage to the shopping center, as well as improve the look and design of the existing buildings.

The plans, put forth by property owner Brixmor, call for six new buildings: three in the portion of the shopping center across from McCaffrey’s. (To make way for those buildings, the two existing buildings, including the Bank of America, will be demolished.) Another 6,000-square-foot building will be constructed near where Premier Urgent Care and Barre 3 is located.

Additionally, the plans include a 3,500-square-foot freestanding bank near Saladworks, as well as a 1,600-square-foot freestanding café.

When complete, the shopping center will be approximately 50,000-square feet larger, and will look like this:

Construction on the portion of the shopping center anchored by Pier One has already begun.

Harvest Seasonal Grill, a farm to table wine bar, is expected to open in that area by the holidays, Supervisor Phil Calabro said. That restaurant will be located in the portion of the shopping center previously occupied by Margiotti and Kroll Pediatrics. The children’s medical practice has since moved to a freestanding building on Newtown-Yardley Road.

The property owner is hoping to move as quickly as possible on the other renovations, Calabro said. No word yet on any new tenants.
