Wednesday, June 20 is World Refugee Day. Refugees are on the front page of the news and in the front of our hearts as countries turn ships of helpless refugees away and small children are torn from their mothers and fathers at our border. This is a time for people of all faiths and of good faith to come together. If not now, when?
At 7:00 p.m. on June 20, St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Yardley (47 West Afton Avenue) will host an interfaith prayer service. The service will be led by Imam Numaan Cheema of the Zubaida Mosque, Rabbi Anna Boswell-Levy of Kol Emet, and the Rev. Hilary Greer of St. Andrew's.

One of the organizers, Bob Anderson said, "Muhammed, Moses, and Jesus were all refugees so we will honor them in the readings and reflections. In addition, we will: share family stories remembering our own ancestors who came as refugees to this proclaimed Land of Liberty; pray for all those seeking safety from slaughter; and bless the Syrian families who have resettled here and become our fast friends. After the service, we will have opportunities to make interfaith friends, volunteer to help, and engage in advocacy.
All are welcome and all are needed. Shalom, Salam, and Peace."
