Officers tracked down the suspected vehicle, detected signs of alcohol use, and took the driver into custody, with final charges pending blood test results.
   

2. $1.3M Dam Removal Project Set To Begin On Neshaminy Creek In Bucks (patch.com) — Work starts next week to remove the Spring Garden Dam on Neshaminy Creek at Tyler State Park in Newtown and Northampton, bringing temporary trail closures but long-term safety and environmental benefits. Newtown residents should expect brief footpath and trail detours while crews restore natural stream flow, improve fish passage, and keep most park facilities and parking areas open throughout the project.

CR South handles Perkiomen Valley in Week 2 high school football (ydr.com) — Council Rock South edged Perkiomen Valley 13-10 at Walt Snyder Stadium in Newtown, highlighted by senior Brody Walker's two touchdowns, including a 79-yard blocked field goal return. After opening the season with a dominant win, the Golden Hawks now prepare to host Pennridge on Sept. 10, giving Newtown fans another big home game to circle.
   

4. Micro-Hospital Plans At Oxford Valley Mall Revived: Report (patch.com) — Plans are back on track for Capital Health's $60 million micro-hospital by Oxford Valley Mall, which will be the first of its kind in Bucks County. For Newtown residents already served by Capital Health primary care, this nearby facility could mean shorter drives for surgeries, inpatient care, and urgent services as the health system continues expanding across the region.
