Methacton School District Votes To Close Audubon Elementary School
BREAKING: It's official. Methacton School District has agreed to shut down Audubon Elementary School.

It's official. Methacton School District has agreed to shut down Audubon Elementary School, ending nearly three years of rumors and a lengthy analysis of the district's enrollment.
The highly contentious process, which began in 2014, has long been extremely unpopular in the local community. Dating back to 2015,hundreds of residents mobilized to protest Superintendent David Zerbe's recommendation to shut down the school.
Enrollment studies cited by the board forecast 320 fewer students in grades K-4 by 2024 than in 2007, and 960 students fewer district-wide by 2024.

The final decision was made during Tuesday night's Board of School Director's meeting.
"This decision will result in changes to the district. It will have an impact on our families, our staff, and our entire community," the school district said in a statement. "While a great deal of time and effort was dedicated to preparing for this decision, we now begin the important work of planning and preparing students, staff, and families for the transition. To begin, allow me to assure you that our students, their needs, and their well-being will be of the utmost priority as we continue this process."
